Make the Season Bright by Ashley Herring Blake

3.5

Ashley Herring Blake really knows how to write women…and her supporting characters are so interesting. I always want to be in the friend groups in her novels. This second chance romance didn’t quite hit for me like the Bright Falls trilogy did. I think my issue is that all the hard work that goes into a second chance relationship is done off the page so it all feels a little too easy. It also didn’t feel like we went too deep into either Lola’s or Bright’s traumas and challenges. I imagine that was a conscious choice given that this is a Christmas romance, but I think it did a little disservice to the characters. Regardless, I’ll read whatever Herring Blake writes. This could be another trilogy given the two other couples, hint hint.
