Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo
5.0
“I would come for you. And if I couldn’t walk, I’d crawl to you, and no matter how broken we were, we’d fight our way out together—knives drawn, pistols blazing. Because that’s what we do. We never stop fighting.”
Yup, that’s Kaz. It’s been a while since I’ve fallen in love like this with a character. But that is what Leigh Bardugo does, she creates people who doesn’t feel like fictional characters. Kaz is impossible, his moral compass might seem broken at times but at the end of the day he will surprise you with his wit.
This book takes the story of our six beloved barrel thugs after they break the Ice Court and return home victorious, only to be betrayed in the worst way. Now they need to win everything back. The money and the respect, all while protecting the scientist’s son. It is fast paced, full of action and twist and turns by our one and only Kaz.
Let me tell you, this book... it delivers! I was so afraid for the ending, since Bardugo tends to write crowd pleasers happy endings, and that’s not usually what the book deserves. This one gets a decent ending, and I just figured out that it’s not really an ending because book three is in the works (insert happy dance here).
Meanwhile I’m happy and satisfied. Thank you Leigh.
