Our Chemical Hearts by Krystal Sutherland
5.0
I didnʼt realize how long this book has been sitting on my “want to read” shelf. I got this book from a good friend of mine as a Secret Santa present and when I checked Goodreads, it has been years now that I wanted to read this book and I finally did it.
Our Chemical Hearts tells the story of mysterious new girl, Grace Town who was assigned to the schoolʼs editorial board with Henry Page.
Henry has no “true experiences” with love or relationships. His first kiss was with his best friend Lola and turns out Lola is attracted to the opposite gender.
Itʼs cliché yet fascinating how Henry was attracted to Grace. It was so simple yet so adorable. They are adorable. I am a little upset that they didnʼt end up together in the end. But I am glad that they end it in a good way. Iʼd say the ending was beautiful because Grace is slowly healing from the traumatic state she was in before because of Domʼs death. Henry too is slowly accepting the fact that Grace will never love him as much as he loves her and she loved Dom.
Honorable mentions: I find Murrayʼs character very brilliant and hilarious. Same goes to Lola and Henryʼs parents. Aside from Henry and Grace, these characters made me laugh out loud too and I am definitely entertained by them.
Such a good book. Definitely deserving of my 5-star rating. Would totally recommend to anyone who wants a light read and is a contemporary reader as I am.
