Court of Serpents and Secrets by Eliza Raine
3.0
This series was fine. I probably would've enjoyed the last couple books more if they weren't such a let down after the first one. I just feel like these book ended up moving so slowly.
I also really REALLY hate Maz in this book. He treated Reyna like total shit. He threw the worlds biggest baby tantrum. He was literally the most obnoxious person in the entire world. I was over it and it lasted way too long. The rest of the book I literally lost all respect for him. Throughout the series he just couldn't see past himself. He was constantly feeling badly for himself without taking in Reyna's feelings at all. It drove me bonkers. He also never told his inner court about himself which was wild. Like the boys got trust issues.
I got to 75% of the way done and was so confused how the author was going to wrap it up. It ended okay. I hate pregnancy ending but whatever. The queen met her demise as did the evil Gold Court guy. Reyna saved the starving ones which good for her for having mercy. The whole time she was trying to choose what to do and agonizing over saving the starving ones or ending Maz's curse I was confused. Like the Queen is dead, why can't they just use her mist staff to save Maz. Which is exactly what they did. Like the answer was so fucking obvious but Reyna couldn't see it.
