This book has been on my list of anticipated reads for 2023 so I was beyond thrilled to receive an e-arc of this. Do you ever get that inkling when you *just know* that a book is going to be for you? I got that when I saw the cover and blurb for Forget Me Not, and thankfully I was right.
Our main characters Ama (a wedding planner) & Elliot (a florist) have a complicated history with each other and have managed to successfully avoid one another on the circuit for the last 2yrs or so. But now they've both been hired for the same wedding and there is no way to back out.
Julie Soto manages to perfectly blend light-hearted comedy with some serious angst. I think the split timelines in the dual POV’s helped to achieve this, as well as giving us the much needed insight into how Ama & Elliot’s “relationship” began and developed.
I had such a good time reading this – I laughed, I cried (thanks very much) and I felt everything that the characters were going through, which is such a testament to the authors writing.
Speaking of which, I absorbed this book. I read it so quickly and hated putting it down which almost never happens. Everything flowed beautifully and was really well paced.
I thought the main characters, as well as the side characters (Mar in particular) were interesting and well thought out. I found Ama really endearing, if a little naive at times, but you were always rooting for her. I am a real sucker for the quiet, stoic, tall, dark & handsome love interest so Elliot was everything I could have wanted from a MMC.
Overall I would thoroughly recommend this book, it was an easy 5 star read for me & I can’t wait to see what the author publishes next!
Thank you to NetGalley & HarperCollins UK for gifting me with an e-arc.
