Tomie by Junji Ito
3.0
julia reminded me of the word paraphrasing and that is literally what was going on over here.
there is sort of this repetitiveness in both uzumaki and tomie. But i think the difference between the two is that in uzumaki, the result of the curse differentiated from time to time (kinda). in contrast, tomie just felt like the same story over and over again but with a small twist each time. i would've definitely rated this higher if it were shorter.
also, tomie always used the same name and people were STILL getting cursed by her?? like was she not on the news??? i mean i guess that could be part of her curse but it just made me laugh
but other than that, I gave an extra star for the fantastic artwork + the gore & horror that junji ito is able to present in his stories. i genuinely cannot understand how he is able to produce such an uneasy feeling through JUST drawings and words. that is TALENT
