The Long War brings some more action and excitement to the series. It seems to have a broader, more diverse scope, without the disparate feel of the first book. There’s still no unified storyline in this book itself, and the individual storylines sort of peter out in the end, but there’s a sense of building toward some significance across the series as a whole.
