Starry Eyes by Jenn Bennett
4.0
Jenn Bennet has this gift that even when you read her books for the first time it almost feels like your re reading one of your favorite books. Very much a comfort read even on your first read. This book just had the makings of such a cute read. The forced proximity with the camping extravaganza was done SO WELL and everything they had to go through while unpacking why their friendship ended. I really do believe childhood friends to lovers to enemies back to lovers is the superior trope. The miscommunication had Zorie and Lennon in a chokehold OMG but what do I expect at this point. They were so aggravating at times with their miscommunication but I was rooting for them so hard. They were just so cute together and their chemistry was very well written especially for a ya contemporary. I do feel Zorie’s dad islamphobia and homophobia should have been addressed better instead of glossed over. That doesn’t take away how much I really liked this book I felt the 400+ pages were actually necessary to tell the story. By the end of book I wanted even more which is saying a lot because I think most ya contemporary books should be 300 pages. Jenn Bennet is becoming one of my auto read authors I trust her so much. Her books are Spring/Summer comfort perfection.
