What Moves the Dead by T. Kingfisher
4.0
Content warnings: fungal infestation, mold, body horror (human and animal), animal death
Genuinely enjoyed this, though I wish Kingfisher had spent a bit more time describing the unsettling and eerie atmosphere and surroundings of the story. Once things started to get weird I felt myself growing really invested and I think a few more nights spent by the characters in anxiety and fear would have really cemented this as a horror staple. Nonetheless, I found Kingfisher's scenic descriptions vivid and piercing, though I could have done with some of the narrator's snarky commentary. A good start into the creepy season, I'd say!
