I didn’t know what to expect—I picked this book up on a whim because it was on sale at Target and I had liked Renée Ahdieh’s The Wrath & The Dawn series. But this book was amazing! It reminded me a lot of The Vampire Diaries, but maybe even better. Celene is escaping her misdeeds in France, and comes to New Orleans for a new chance, only to be swept up the dark side of this city, including the beautiful Sebastian. There is magic, demons, mystery/intrigue, betrayals, and a breathtaking romance. It’s everything one could want in a book, and I wish I had the sequel.
