I don’t understand how this book is so highly rated… The writing was distractingly bad. So many misspellings, misused colloquialisms and idioms, and most egregiously, a refusal to consistently use any pronoun. Why bother with a simple “he” when instead you can say “the man” (231 times) or “the human” (127 times) or “the vampire” (166 times)… the book is only 271 pages long…

I think the characters and the mythology were solidly outlined, just poorly excecuted, they could have been done so much better in the hands of another author… I’m rating it a 2⭐️ solely for what she was clearly meaning to do and honestly the plot was engaging enough that I’m continuing on to the 2nd in the series in hopes that the writing improves as they go on…
