Six-gun Snow White by Catherynne M. Valente
4.0
Snow White as a half-Crow, half-white girl who doesn't really fit in anywhere; the stepmother as a victim of abuse herself, the heart she wants as a magical object to save her son. The seven dwarves are seven lady gunslingers. Could do with a whole book about them.
Valente does great things with style, a really lovely read, if lonely and sad. Really explores the idea that some part of her had to be suicidal. I think the second half could have easily been two or three times as long though, after she left her stepmother. also why did she leave?
