The Modern Girl's Guide to Magic by Linsey Hall

2.0

Overall cozy and quick read.

Wasn't a fan of the romance between Aria and Callan. Just didn't do it for me. It seemed.. off? strange? Aria hates Callan but than doesn't... and the age thing in the beginning .. was.. sideways glance. Callan billionaire not billionaire.. big gestures and wanting to win the competition but than also wanting not to so Aria could - didn't give me charming like I feel it, it was supposed to?

I feel like they just didn't communicate well.

Was more interested in the other characters (her friend, grandmother etc), the garden and the overall trials or levels if you will, plant life and other creatures more than anything else.

If I could have this world, where they worked through more trials/levels of the competition and getting to know each other, with magic, connection etc at the forefront and the romance as a secondary, I would of enjoyed it more.

But I did like the familiar a lot.
