Where the Watermelons Grow by Cindy Baldwin
5.0
Have you ever read a book and just knew it was your new favorite? Ever thought this is the new book I'm going to recommend to everyone.
Someone that is the most special to me recommended this book
My daughter and her special education teacher were reading this book in class. Laci doesn't tell me a lot of details for her school day. But, she did mention this book not once, not twice, but three times. Her exact words were "Mama I think you should read this. You will love it." So, I bought it. I read it. And I do love it. I love the heaviness of the topic and the POV we are given from a twelve year old child viewing her mother's mental illness (schizophrenia.) This book is heartfelt from page one.
Cindy Baldwin has Cystic Fibrosis and Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome. She is a very strong disability advocate. I am so excited to read her other books as well ...very soon!
