The Tales of Beedle the Bard by J.K. Rowling

5.0

This is actually my third or fourth time reading this book, but for some reason I've never added it on goodreads.

I think this is an amazing collection! I love fairy tales, in fact I've studied the Brothers Grimm and Hans Christian Andersen's tales way more than anyone without an English degree should have. The stories in this book are fantastic! Part of the fun of growing up with the Harry Potter books was that the younger you are the more open you were to believing in a parallel world where witches and wizards exist along side muggles. I love this book for adding to that feeling. These are supposedly tales all the witches and wizards were read when they were very young. They feel like real fairy tales that were written more than a hundred years ago! I also enjoyed the notes from Albus Dumbledore that tie this book in with some of the ideas the Harry Potter series raises. It is just a really fun, quick read!
