Power Plays & Straight A's by Eden Finley, Saxon James

5.0

This was such a fun and unexpectedly sweet book!

I listened to the audio book and I was really impressed with the way the narrators brought it to life.

This story contains a few of my favourite tropes: friends to lovers, nerd/jock, oposites attract and best friend's brother, it all adds up to such a good time.

Zach and Foster are both such lovable mcs! They both have such full back stories which makes it very easy to start routing for them early on. There wasn't as much drama as I was expecting, but it worked perfectly the way it was. The way that these two work together is just perfect! I think it might be one of my favourite romantic dynamics that I've ever read. The dual perspective works really well to give us an insight into how both characters get in their head about stuff but the communication between the two of them to work things out just makes my heart so happy!

The side characters are also pretty fun, they definitely help to make this lively plot.

I'm beginning to feel like Saxon James is a master when it comes to spice. It's so well written and just works perfectly withing the plot, like its not just there to tick a box, it's a part of the plot.

This is only the second book I've read from Saxon James and it's my first for Eden Finley, but it certainly won't be my last for either of them!
