I have read one other Neil Gaiman novel (Good Omens) and thoroughly enjoyed it. However, where the quirk and novelty of Good Omens succeeded, I feel like Neverwhere failed. The subject matter of Neverwhere felt pretty dark at times, and the lighthearted side comments felt weird and out of place.

I acknowledge the actual writing was lovely.  I also acknowledge that as someone who normally reads epic high fantasy... low urban fantasy is normally not my fav, so take my review with a grain of salt.
