The Princess Diarist by Carrie Fisher
5.0
ðŸ˜ðŸ’”
Were Carrie Fisher still alive, would I give this five stars? Likely not. The whirlwind of emotion for the story is inevitably heightened by her passing, particularly in any segment of the book where she talks about her own death. The bit about Comic-Con fans complaining her autograph was expensive to get but "think of how much it will be worth after she's gone"? A knife to the heart.
Really, the most compelling part of the book is looking through the eyes of a sweet, precocious 19-year-old kid who fell in love with the wrong man, as pretty much all 19-year-olds are known to do, and then reconciling that this kid who wrote bad poetry and heart-wrenching journal quips is also the kid who saved the Galaxy and made you see that a Princess could be a badass.
I miss you, Carrie.
