Others might enjoy this more than me. It was cute, funny, and a good prequel to Max’s book. But I wasn’t as engaged with the story, and there were a few icks.
Often times I don’t care too much about this in M/M books, but when most of the women are put down and given gendered insults, it feels a little sexist. Why are the women (and only women) called shrill bitches? If you wanna insult them, call them dickwads or something, or call men shrill bitches too.
Also, as a former island local and resort worker I hate “private exotic beach house we own” scenes. Go home, colonizers. Leave the stressed local ecosystem and people alone.
Spice: 3/5
Angst: 1/5
