Girl, Wash Your Face by Rachel Hollis

4.0

I finished Girl, Wash Your Face by Rachel Hollis last night, reading the physical book while listening to the audiobook from my library. Surprisingly, I enjoyed this book more than I anticipated.

Girl, Wash Your Face is marketed as self-help, however I can say that it is part memoir - part self-help. Rachel wrote the book by writing it in chapters based on common lies she told herself, and somehow most women can relate to it. I usually enjoy reading a memoir more compared to self-help, so the way that this author wrote this book really helped me enjoy it more.

Through explaining her life experience, Rachel shared lessons and tips that are relatable and honest. Her focus is to lift up your spirit, by not believing all the common lies, that somehow are the obstacles between ourselves and our dreams. This book is really for you, if (1) you are a mother, (2) soon to be a mother, (3) want to be a writer / entrepreneur. But basically all women in general can read this book, and relate to it somehow.

Personally, I relate to the chapters "The Lie: I'll Start Tomorrow", "The Lie: I'm Not Good Enough", and "The Lie: I am Defined by My Weight" the most. These three chapters really makes me ponder why I still find these excuses in my life. Point to note; only you are in charge of your happiness and only you can decide on the path your life will take. Overall, it is a quick and easy read, and I really enjoyed it.
