Boy: Tales of Childhood by Roald Dahl
5.0
Roald Dahl's books have had a comfortable home on my bookshelves for years. Like practically everyone that reads, I was introduced to his books for children to start with; I believe 'George's Marvellous Medicine' was the first one I pored over repetitively. Around the age of ten, I discovered he also wrote for adults after reading 'The Slaughter of the Lamb' and from that moment on, I've regarded Dahl as one of my favourite writers.
Reading about this man's early life, as he made such a massive impact in mine, was a true delight. There's a tangible charm to it, and the feeling that this man writing to you was a childhood friend of yours, reminiscing over the old times with a slice of your favourite cake at hand. That's how truly wonderful this is.
I can't say anything more about this little book other than that it is a dear friend in paper form.
