The Darkest Secret by Gena Showalter

3.0

I like this series a lot, but this one is not QUITE as good as some of the others. The first chapter or two seemed kind of rocky, when usually I can just pick them up and get caught up in the story. I think that Showalter couldn't make up her mind whether to write the Strider book or the Amun book. She's obviously setting up the Strider book, he gets almost as much time as the main characters. At first I thought we might get a rather unique situation, where 2 of the Lords were fighting over a mate, but then it slipped back into standard "boy and girl go on an adventure together and fall in lust then love." I wish we had seen more of the other Lords. I am looking forward to Strider, William, and Paris' books, because I think this one might have just been filler to set up those stories. It is nice to see a black romantic hero (I don't think I have EVER read a romance novel with one).
