I was immediately swept into this book, in awe of the incredible world-building and storytelling. Carrisa Broadbent did a fantastic job painting a picture for readers - especially one as challenging as this world.

I also loved the characters - I loved Oraya, Vincent, Raihn, Mische, and many others, but I particularly loved Oraya and Raihn - their banter, interactions, and wit. Broadbent did a great job of building both of them individually and together.

I must admit that I was nervous to read about a vampire world - I think I grew up in a generation where that became popular, and I was just so sick of it. But I liked Broadbent's unique way of describing and showcasing that world. It wasn't that cringey to me, and it was interesting to read about a human in a vampire-led world. The romance was excellent – it was in the pages but didn't take over the whole storyline.

All in all, I loved it and read it so quickly because I needed to know more! I cannot wait for Broadbent's next book in this series, and I am interested in reading more of her work.
