The Separation by Dinah Jefferies

3.0

I liked the idea of the book. I'm interested in SE Asian history, and this one set during the 'Emergency" in Malay drew me in at first. However, the last third of the book just pushed domino after domino over, and things were revealed too quickly instead of over time in the book - layered revelations. I like that kind that leave me in suspense for a few chapters and then are cleared up. I felt like every chapter was another "solved" puzzle piece and shot all suspense built up earlier in the foot. That being said, the premise was interesting, but the ending was just - meh.
