One of the things I like about stories that center around Haunted Houses is that ghosts are really just an illusion for trauma and/regret. Ghosts terrorizing the living to either confront their own pains or the systemic issues that destroy everything in its path.

Solomon did such a good job in creating such vivid characters and their dysfunction as a family. It unfolds wonderfully and painfully. Solomon also does a great job in weaving in the "haunting" and I was left in tears in the last 20%.

I will say I got confused during the time jumps, but that might just be me since I'm listening through an audio book instead of reading it.
