I was skeptical of this book but in the end I loved everything about it. Eilis felt like a living, breathing human being in Brooklyn and in this followup, twenty-plus years later, she is older and changed by time but also recognizably herself, making decisions that feel authentic to her character. I could hardly put this down and I'm so glad Toibin returned to Eilis to give us another chapter of her story.
