The Marriage Clock by Zara Raheem
5.0
I think this book made me fall in love with contemporary Rom com romance. Named a must read book of the summer by Bookriot, Bustle and more! We all have that picture in our mind of that perfect person we want to marry. This book challenges that view and gets us to consider what love really looks like both for our self and with others. This heartwarming story follows Leila, a modern young Indian American woman and her traditional Indian Muslim parents as they challenge her to find a husband in three months or else they will arrange her marriage for her. I really enjoyed watching Leila’s character evolve from unsure of who and what she wants, to a beautiful woman who is sure of who she is and what she desires. I loved seeing how her definition of “her perfect dream guy” shifted as she dates the various men, both her parents and herself pick out for her. I also loved that the author was not afraid to show flaws both in her main character and in each guy she dated. I also enjoyed learning about the diverse and rich Indian culture. Out July 23!
