The Fellowship of the Ring by J.R.R. Tolkien

5.0

I’ve read through many reviews here, and I find that ones calling it dull, and boring are kind of interesting. This is my first read through of LOTR and I’ve found it anything but dull. The detailed descriptions of places and things are some of my favorite parts. Tolkien’s writing is some of the most beautiful I’ve ever read. These books aren’t about journey vs. destination, but both of equal value. The walking, talking, singing, and eating are so important. It’s through each of these things that you get to know the characters personalities, strengths, and purpose. If it’s instant gratification that you are looking for then perhaps this book isn’t for you. But if you’ve got the time to settle down with a blanket and some tea…get comfortable, relax, and then let yourself escape into the world Tolkien so beautifully and carefully crafted. Your imagination will be rewarded.
