“Can you take your little ghost hands off me now? As much as I love being held down and degraded, I have a boyfriend, and I’d like to go to my next class.”
“Is this your way of seducing me? Because it isn’t working.”
“Do not whimper to your god, little mortal. I’ll burn down the remaining realms before I hear you call out to someone else.”
I have mixed feelings about this book, and it took me a while to get into the story. There were some parts (mainly towards the end) that I really enjoyed, but also some things I disliked.
The prologue was really promising. The FMC is kidnapped to an island in the middle of nowhere with creatures that are not human, but it’s never really explained what they are, other than that they’re tall and strong, from different realms, have powers and are trying to go to Earth.
The FMC spends the first week just in her room, and after that the book skips a whole month. And during that time she seemingly interacts with the MMC, and now they hate each other but it’s not explained why. The mortal studies class was a nice concept.
The banter and tension between the FMC and MMC was great and I liked their relationship development towards the end of the book. Also liked the small revelations about their shared past, and I hope to learn more about their history.
Overall, in my opinion the story got a lot better towards the end and I can’t wait to read the next book.
If you enjoy fast-paced dark fantasy romance and want something quick and easy to read with not a lot of world-building, you’ll probably enjoy this one.
