A Strange and Stubborn Endurance by Foz Meadows

emotional medium-paced

5.0

The second romance-focused book I've read with mains who are ACTUALLY for REAL good at communicating. I'm a big fan. Here's the highlights of this book
- Arranged political marriage to lovers
- Intense political/murder mystery that ends with a HELL of a twist
- Intense platonic friendship between one of the mains and a side character
- A well-handled story of trauma and recovery.
- A fascinating exploration of culture shock and the ways cultures are so much different but also...so much the same.

This book does have an on-page sexual assault, and aggressive homophobia from a father to son. Both are handled well in the broader narrative.
