This was a slower moving horror romance about Sophie and Joseph. Joseph meets Sophie at the theater and is immediately smitten with her, so he quickly asks for her hand in marriage. Sophie reluctantly accepts, mainly because her family was going to become bankrupt over a bad investment her father made.
At Norwood, Sophie soon realizes that the Gothic style home is more sinister than she thought. She hears things in the night and feels an evil presence that she thinks wants to consume her. Before she knows it, she is in a battle between life and death. She is determined to save her new husband from the monster that has had its claws in the Argenton's family for generations.
I enjoyed the overall premise of this book and the horror aspects, but the insta-love was a bit over the top for me. Sophie falls for Joseph rather quickly and it kind of seemed more like a trauma response, but then again if I was in her position, I probably would think the same thing.
