Stoner by John Williams

5.0

What a remarkable man…who, for all intents and purposes, was completely unremarkable. This book was praised by many on BookTok, which I find fascinating because it’s a novel by a dead white guy that I had never heard of. How this wasn’t taught in my American Lit class in high school is beyond me. It absolutely should be. In any case, this is a very well-written story of the life of Stoner, one of the most stoic protagonists I’ve ever come across. Do yourself a favor and read this, especially if you’ve spent any time in academia.
