i first heard about this book on instagram. other than it being “a decent read” i didn’t know much about this.

the other day, i found this book on clearance in books a million. i recognized it and picked it up. i saw that it was a romance novel and had a little to do with football and immediately put it in my “to buy” pile. anyone who knows me knows how much i love football. that was honestly the selling point.

i honestly thought i would dislike maggie, the main character. at the beginning, she was a little over the top but you come to discover the reasons behind her thoughts. she was still a bit dramatic and when from 0–100 faster than a corvette, but i still liked her. she has an interesting backstory that plays an important role.

west... oh, west... let me just tell y’all. i’d fall in love with him too. hot guy? check. football player? check. someone that would totally ruin my life and couldn’t be worse for me? check. until he meets maggie, that is. when west meets maggie, is whole world is turned upside down. she makes him a better person. he faces several obstacles, which he overcomes. all in all, he was enjoyable.

brady & the rest of the football team were great additions. i thoroughly enjoyed the development brady underwent. each football player had their own personality but occasionally they blended together. i’m not complaining, thought. i personally don’t this they had enough page time to make this a big deal.

the plot wasn’t THAT thrilling. it was a story. that’s the best thing i can say to describe it, ya know. it’s a realistic novel and it was rather predictable, but what else would you expect?

everything happened for a reason but i feel like some things were rushed a little too much. if an issue was given at least twenty-four hours before it was resolved, i feel like it woulda made it just a bit more realistic. towards the end, it also seemed like a daydream-like scenario where you rush to get to the best part.

it’s kinda weird but i don’t really have any other comments on it? by no means was it bad... it was just good.

this was a very easy read. nothing was too complicated so the reader can just relax.

i do think the end of this book was one of the best conclusions i’ve read in a while. it wraps everything up, while setting up what the sequel will be about.

i also liked how abbi glines didn’t shy away from anything. she was forward about romantic endeavors and it wasn’t awkward. i respect that.

there were several scenes where i felt WITH and FOR the characters. i really respect that, also.

again, i don’t really have anything else to add. it wasn’t perfect but it wasn’t awful. i enjoyed the simplicity and the alternating pov.

there is no doubt in my mind about the rating of this book. everything was great. the only reason that this isn’t a 5/5 is just because the plot and writing was slightly lackluster. either way, still had a lot of fun with this and can’t wait to pick up the next books in the series.

i definitely recommend this to anyone who likes contemporary romance. it was super cute and fast. i wouldn’t expect to be blown away but i’d definitely expect to have a good time.
