The Age of Magical Overthinking: Notes on Modern Irrationality by Amanda Montell

2.5

It's hard to have thorough opinions of the chronically online when you, yourself, are chronically online.

I thought I would be getting an insightful look into humanity and cognitive biases but instead received a book full of half-baked ruminations. They would have been better as podcast discussion topics.

I will mention that it is ironic she spends an entire essay discussing holistic therapists/practitioners and the ways in which they trick the public to worship their branding, while simultaneously, doing the same thing in a different field.

I'd like to see more from the author once she has really nailed down the art of thorough investigation.
