Bittersweet Memories by Catharina Maura

2.0

This is the reason I don’t read amnesia stories. Then I went against my better judgment, listened to TikTok and read this one. How foolish of me. Don’t get me wrong, it wasn’t a bad book. My issues are largely personal preference. There are many people that would enjoy this book and I did like a good amount of it which is why I rated it the way I did.

This story felt like drama for the sake of drama. I enjoy drama, but when it doesn’t have a reason behind it, it becomes one of the most annoying and tedious things to me and it felt like this book was full of it.

There were numerous opportunities for Silas to tell Alanna that he knew her in a way that didn’t distort her memories. There were countless pieces of evidence pointing towards Ryan lying and Silas telling the truth for Alanna to listen to (watching her get upset that he didn’t tell her about her past when earlier in the book she specifically said it was something she wouldn’t want physically hurt). There were many times my boyfriend looked at me with concern when I would get frustrated at one of the characters.
