Nona the Ninth by Tamsyn Muir

4.0

It took me a while to get into this mainly because I didn't love Nona at first, and also it was a confusing book since the story drops you in this place without much explanation. But once I got used to Nona, I actually enjoyed the story. I really liked the side characters in this and I grew fond of them.

I really appreciate how complex this series is: the world and magic system are intriguing, there are always different timelines, as well as situations and characters that are not what they seem, and so many different characters with secret/mysterious motivations. It feels like it's impossible to know what exactly is going on at any given time and that keeps me enthralled trying to figure out what's happening and where the story is going. Overall, it's a very intense, confusing, challenging series to read but it's worth it.
