A Cinderella Christmas by Holly Kingston

5.0

A Cinderella Christmas is a debut novella from Holly Kingston and what a debut it is!
It's the time of year again where panto is the name of the game and Lucy, an actress who has always suffered with an aversion to being centre of attention, has landed the role of a lifetime: the back end of the comedy cow.
Cinderella is being played by a Charmaine; a nip and tucked, botoxed to death celebrity and Prince Charming is being played by the one and only Ryan Aspell (the hottest man to ever grace TV screens). When Lucy gets the chance to become Charmaine's unofficial PA (look after her dog, stock the fridge kinda role) she hopes she might be able to get into Charmaine's magical celebrity world and become super famous too. She also hopes Ryan will realise how much he loves Lucy and marry her straight away. The front end of the cow and acting friend, Ben, tries to keep Lucy grounded but as Christmas draws closer and the curtain begins to rise, Lucy finds herself wanting to break out of the cow costume and step into the spotlight.
If you get excited about Christmas as early as I do then this is a little festive treat to keep you ticking over until the big day. I had the biggest grin on my face from start to finish and instantly fell in love with Lucy. She was hugely funny and the situations she ended up in were extremely comical which led to more smiling and laughing. Charmaine was the perfect evil bitch character and more than once I wanted to slap her round the face and give her a taste of her own medicine. I was really impressed by Lucy's journey over the course of this novella; she managed to pack a lot into a short space of time!
Holly is an author I am so excited to have discovered. I am on tenterhooks to see what she has for us next as her writing just blew me away. She is going to definitely be one to watch out for and will be quickly biting at the heels of the bestsellers for sure. Her pacing is sublime, the characters are believable, the humour is perfect; it really is just flawless writing! Although, saying that, there was one problem; I wish this book had been hundreds of pages longer because I didn't want to leave the world of these characters!
A blinding debut from an author I cannot wait to read more from. Make sure you put this book at the top of your `To Read' list and I guarantee you won't be disappointed!
A cute Christmas comedy that will keep you smiling and guessing until the very end.
