Lights Out by Navessa Allen

4.0

I mean wow gee wilikers. I’m going to be mulling over this one for the unforeseeable future. This is definitely the darkest and spicest book I’ve ever read. I thought Butcher and Blackbird was twisted, but don’t get it twisted, Light’s Out takes the cake. I mean the trigger warnings needed a full page in the front matter section if that’s any consolation. All that said, this book was fantastic! The banter was some of my favorite, the characters you will grow to love (even though they are def kinda kinky) and there is a good bit of suspense. There are some intense points so this was definitely one I couldn’t read in one sitting and had to space out. But at the same time, I was dying to finish to see just how it ended.

Aly is a trauma nurse and is desensitized to a lot of things that would cause the average female to say ~absolutely not~ to. Her only form of relaxation with her crazy work schedule is watching thirst trap tik toks of the masked man, who is known for his knife and blood props. Josh’s dad is a well known serial killer and a hacking guru. When he finds out his best friend’s ex hook up, Aly, has been watching and commenting on all his masked man videos, he starts to pursue her in a very unconventional (stalkerish) way. Most women would be alarmed, but Aly loves the thrill of it. When their worlds collide and they end up and a messy situation together, the masks must come off so they can avoid a troubled fate.
