Be with Me by Jennifer L. Armentrout

4.0

Another book by my beloved Jennifer L. Armentrout alias J. Lynn! It's the second book in the "Wait For You" series and is about Cam's sister Tessa and his best friend Jase.

It hooked me right from the beginning but I quickly realized it wouldn't be as good as the first book of the series. Jennifer's writing was, as usual, brilliant and I also loved the general idea and the characters. They were all beautifully written and had flaws but also amazing traits that made them so much more likeable.

Tess Hamilton, Cam's sister, is such a great character! I really didn't know what to think about her in the beginning but throughout the book I grew to love her a lot. She's tough and everything that had happened to her only made her stronger. I liked that she and Cam have such a great relationship and that he's so protective over her ... it's cute but it's also good that Tess stood up for herself and told him to back off when she didn't need him. I loved her honesty, that she was unsure at times but then again also brave when she had to be. Ugh, she's just wonderful!

"I love you like I love cupcakes."

But oh my god. Jase is definitely material for some very hot dreams. Sure, JLA always has amazing guys and I absolutely love Cam but Jase is something different ... I can't really describe it. He's also kinda protective and I liked that about him. He was there for Tess and supported her whenever she needed him. The cupcake thingy was the cutest thing ever. I fell for him. I just couldn't resist, nope. But at times I really wanted to smack him. Hard. I almost feel bad for saying it but he also annoyed me a bit. I totally understand why Tess was so confused ... I mean, who wouldn't be? This whole situation between them was so messed up. I do understand why he acted the way he did but it didn't make it less annoying - I really felt sorry for Tess.

I loved all the side characters but especially Calla! I'm so excited to meet her again in "Stay with Me"! Jase' dad was also amazing and so, so funny. What he said to Tess when they first met was seriously great and I enjoyed the scenes with him a lot.

"You know, I’ve tried staying away from you. I’ve tried ignoring how I feel about you, which isn’t how I should feel. But it’s like fighting a losing battle. And I don’t want to fight it anymore. I don’t want to ignore this."

It's a Romance, so of course it was kinda clear and easy to guess what would happen but JLA managed to catch me completely off guard with those brilliant plot twists! I would have NEVER EVER expected that ... thing about Jase but I loved the idea and how everything turned out in the end. The little bits and pieces of Avery & Cam were amazing too and warmed my heart even more - I missed them both so much, so I was unbelievably happy to read at least a little bit about them again! And the end. Oh my god, it was the cutest thing ever and so, so sweet! I loved it. *sigh*
