This is a novella that takes place in the Powerless universe. It focuses on Adena, Paedyn’s best friend. It goes back in time somewhat to give us a glimpse as to what life was like for Adena with Paedyn off competing in The Trials. Not only is Adena trying to survive without her partner, but we see her trip in love with Mak. Mak is the grumpy to her sunshine. Determined to help his cousin, he enlists the help of Adena and her sewing talent. As the days go by, he can’t resist her goodness. She becomes a balm to his broken heart. However, tragedy will strike (as we know from Powerless) and, wow, did the tears flow. They both deserved better. This is a sweet and heartbreaking tale.
