The Will of the Many by James Islington
5.0
This book has it all. It was the easiest 5 stars I gave to a book this year.
I've been eying the Licanius trilogy by James Islington for a while now, but I've been prioritizing short stories, single books, and duologies this year, to get me back into my earlier reading habits. Since The Will of the Many is the only book so far in The Hierarchy and since it got so much high praise, I've decided to break my vow of not getting into unfinished series and give this book a go. No regrets about it so far.
I haven't read any other book this year that had a story this complex, full of twists, and well planned out like this one. It has the unpredictability of a single character's limited but growing knowledge that I haven't experienced in a while and characters that we're grown to trust, love, and sometimes lose, that hits emotions just right. I can't wait for the next book to be out and while waiting, I might as well finally read the Licanius trilogy in the meantime.
