This was a little odd. The book couldn’t seem to find what lane it wanted to be in. Is it a Christian romance or a contemporary secular one? Either is fine, I like both. But choose. Like football players sitting around saying gosh is fine if you’re going to explain he’s a man of faith and vowed not to say anything worse than this - even then it seems slightly unbelievable. But then he tries to take a woman back to his room for sex because the one he wants turns him down. Plus the whole witness protection thing didn’t seem particularly researched. Then there was the fact that I kept looking at my progress and 80% in not much had happened. I really thought all of these discussions should be at around 50-60% so some sort of action can take place at end. But no, just a hastily written chapter that was it. And then there was the abrupt ending. This had such potential as a story but was all over the place. As intriguing as the story sounds for the next book (this one sounded intriguing as well) I won’t read it because I’m afraid it will be like this one.
