The Diplomat's Wife by Pam Jenoff
3.0
This book was recommended to me by a friend, and although it is not something I would probably have read without the recommendation, I did enjoy it.
The story is a bit over the top, in that the author throws everything but the kitchen sink at the two main characters in terms of obstacles to them being (or staying) together.
Still, the backdrop of the aftermath of WWII, and the subsequent rise of communism offers an interesting setting for the espionage that forms part of the story.
There are some intriguing supporting characters, and lots of action which keeps the story moving along well.
There is also a somewhat surprising twist at the end, which I did not see coming, and found to be much more satisfying than what I had anticipated as potential endings based on the rest of the book.
If you like historical or spy thrillers you may enjoy this book.”
