a why choose historical romance set in 1880s montana? yeah i was hooked. still i longed for the modernity of women being able to make their own choices, julie herself just kind of did what other people told her to do and thought what other people told her to think. didn’t make for the most interesting or compelling protagonist. a sack of flour would have had more agency! 2 husbands and they’re both alpha males who let their misogyny show when you’re angry? yeah i’ll pass. also don’t try and tell me the author doesn’t have a breeding k@nk cause they were talking about how beautiful she’d look pregnant like the second she got to town bye. also this one was not as queer as it alleged lol, the two MMCs are codependent at best because they can’t be apart after The War and decided to put out a mail order bride ad for a woman that would marry the both of them. and they just. do that. I love when i’m reading a historical romance and the author throws laws and history to the wind in favor of diversity. as gay as it got between them was some homoerotic touching and “servicing” the same woman LMFAO.
