The Sword in the Stone by T.H. White
2.0
Warning: It's an old book with racist terminology used.
Sometimes the book was funny but it was really a slow read. I probably wouldn't have finished this book when I was younger and it was intended as a young adult novel. I struggled with the genre of the book and the historical "facts" it proffered. On one hand it's so completely full of historical inaccuracies but on the other it's a fantasy novel where the main character occasionally transformed into various animals to learn from them about natural science and politics in a way that reminded me of Jules Verne. If the various genres were intended, I don't think White did a good job of blending them.
This was a popular inclusion to the already vast stacks of Arthurian literature, but just as this replaces Le Morte d'Arthur, I think there should be a more modern inclusion that takes this over as well.
