I enjoyed this book. I kind of expected the gods to be more magical and to see more of an urban fantasy vibe to this book, but it felt very mundane. I wish there was a little more world-building and detail as to the way the titles worked - it almost felt like the world was run by a bunch of mafia bosses or something instead of divine, powerful entities.

It was still very entertaining, just not exactly what I was expecting. Some of the steamier scenes felt very repetitive. For Hades to claim he was so into kink and domination, they never really dove into it at all. Their sex felt pretty vanilla aside from the exhibitionism; I was expecting it to be like A Lesson in Thorns. I just wanted all of it to be darker and more intense because of how it was being promoted.

The writing was pretty good overall, and I felt like I had a clear enough image of them that I wanted to draw them a couple of different times while I was reading. This was my first read from the author, and I will probably pick up the second book, Electric Idol, as well. I haven't read a ton of books in this genre as a whole, so maybe I was wrong in my expectations for something that more closely resembled a fantasy with several more explicit sex scenes mixed in.
