Think Again: The Power of Knowing What You Don't Know by Adam M. Grant

challenging funny informative inspiring reflective medium-paced

5.0

This was a great read. Grant’s goal is for you to re-think the act and purpose of re-thinking, which is exactly what I began doing.

Think Again elaborates on different ways to challenge your own opinions and beliefs, how to help others rethink theirs, and ultimately, how to “think like a scientist” by treating your views as testable hypotheses. I became (even more) aware of how I sometimes stubbornly hold onto my opinions and beliefs—debating to “win” rather than being open to differing views and perspectives. Time to rethink!

My favorite takeaway is that changing opinions is a sign of growth, not weakness.

“Every time we encounter new information, we have a choice. We can attach our opinions to our identities and stand our ground in the stubbornness of preaching and prosecuting. Or we can operate more like scientists, defining ourselves as people committed to the pursuit of truth—even if it means proving our own views wrong.”
