I was told to read this first even though in some places this is listed as Book Two in the series. 'Whispers in the Dark' and 'Circle of Freaks' are both prequels to 'Lovers Fate,' which I believe will be released later this year. The book is about Alice, the female main character, and her time in Hades Manor, a rental that her mom and stepfather live in. She moved to Hades Manor when she was nine and started hearing noises coming from the walls, as if it was haunted. Her mother, on the other hand, does not believe her and she is put on a cocktail of prescriptions. During the night, in a foggy haze, she is met with a stranger in her bedroom, but she is unsure if he is really there. This is a quick read, but I must warn you, it stops abruptly. The storyline is really good, and I cannot wait to read 'Circle of Freaks
