A Good Girl's Guide to Murder by Holly Jackson

5.0

4.5-5✨/5✨
Well that definitely was a rollercoaster... We started with a girl that wanted to finish her EPQ and finished with a girl that almost died after the truths she'd discovered and lies that she uncovered. And THAT is the main reason, why I gave this book such high rating.

Almost the whole book I was persuaded that my rating will precisely be something around 4 stars, however the ending changed my mind. Not exactly so... it was more complicated than that. When we found out who the FIRST killer was, I thought about giving it only three stars. It disappointed me quite heavily. I didn't like how quickly it was written (I don't mean that the author wrote it quickly, no. It all happened so fast and I believe, that it should last longer than it did...). Not to mention I didn't believe that he did it all and the fact, that Andie wasn't Andie at all... It didn't make any sense. Like yeah, I believed that he did in fact kill Sal, but it was so strange... his reasons didn't make any sense. He wanted to protect his girls, I get that, but it was all so wrong and seemingly without context... I was blown away (in the bad way). My mind didn't copy anything at that point. But she eventually got it too, that something was so very off in this case..

But I'm quite ahead of myself. I should start at the very beginning.

The main characters are Pip (Pippa) and Ravi. At first you won't know that Ravi will be involved as much as Pip, or should I say ALMOST as much as Pip, because she'd learnt her way and is as secret-full as Andie.
The first meeting of Ravi and Pip left me with hope, that they will interact more. I really liked how well they treated themselves and how they behaved in each other's company. I liked that quite a lot to be honest and I shipped them as hard as I could, even tho I didn't know if they'll ever interact with each other ever again. It was most thrilling at least, and I loved it. Even more when he came to her, wanting to work with her. I liked how their relationship grew and how protective he was of her. Not to mention the ending and the kiss... I just wish, that the author would wrote more about them getting together, because there was only three months skip and BOOM they were together. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad that they are but I would like to know HOW it happened. MORE DETAIL PLEASEEEE!!! I waited the whole book for that and all I get is one kiss at the end and the fact that holding his hand feels more than natural to her. Like what is that?! I know that their relationship wasn't the main topic of the book, however I believe that it could be there... at least at the end.

Moving on. The story was thrilling, but not too much, which I liked a lot. I could read at night and wasn't scared, so that was great because my dreams were calm and I like it that way. It was COMPLICATED and that is my favorite part, because I couldn't even guess who the killer might have been, but I think the discovery of Eliot could have been more described. It was really quickly and poorly written and I think the author could do that in much more better way. Like the thing I didn't get the most was why he said 'It's finally over' when he threatened Pip multiple times? Like what the hell? Why he was happy that she figured it out when he didn't want to be found out? I really didn't get that part. That's the only thing I didn't like at all and I think was horrible. Not in the matter of facts and that HE was the killer of Sal. No, not at all. I didn't like his speech and reasons, not to mention that that clever man didn't recognize the girl not being Andie and literally kidnapping some other girl. Like what the hell? That didn't fit his character at all. Didn't like that.

Well, all in all... I think that the story was great. The plot was intriguing and the characters beyond incredible (except Eliot at the end
