Hidden from History: Reclaiming the Gay and Lesbian Past by George Chauncey, Martha Vicinus, Martin Duberman

challenging informative medium-paced

4.5

Really interesting collection of articles on gay history. As with any collection of essays by different authors, I enjoyed some more than others. Some are definitely outdated since the 80s - there's almost no discussion of trans issues. "Crossdressing" people are considered just that; a variant of gay people.  A trans lens is absent in all of the analysis. Otherwise it was a lot less outdated than I expected from the publication date and there was a lot that was still interesting and valuable.
